THERMAL IMAGING (Infrared Imaging)
Infrared thermography is the only diagnostic technology that lets you instantly visualize and verify thermal problems. Viridian Systems’ thermal imaging program quantifies with non-contact precise temperature measurements. Nearly everything that uses or transmits power gets hot before it fails. Thus, electrical and mechanical problems can be fixed before failure through infrared thermography.

Thermography is the use of an infrared imaging and measurement camera to see and measure thermal energy emitted from an object. Infrared energy is light that is not visible to the human eye because its wavelength is too long. It is part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat. Everything with a temperature above absolute zero emits heat. Even ice cubes emit infrared energy. The higher the temperature of the object, the higher the infrared energy being emitted.
Hartford Steam Boiler Inspections and Insurance Company completed a 10 year study evaluating the costs and benefits of infrared inspections, in which it was found that a proper thermal imaging predictive maintenance program produced cost savings of $4:$1. Maintenance Technology magazine reported similar savings determining the return on investment into an infrared program to be a $4 to $1. In addition, Zurich Risk Engineering reported that 25-30% of all large fire losses are caused by electrical faults.
